Taylor Eide, Speech Language Pathologist, aims to find joy in the small moments each and every day. That’s a lesson she shares with both her clients and her coworkers.
Taylor completed her internship at St. David’s as she pursued a graduate degree from the University of Minnesota’s Speech Language and Hearing Sciences School. She currently works at St. David’s in the Pediatric Therapy program.
Her intern supervisor, Katie Kurtzweg, helped her lay the groundwork to create collaborative and lasting relationships across St. David’s programs. While interning here Taylor was able to work with Occupational Therapists, therapists who specialized in helping kids with significant trauma histories while creating good relationships with clients and parents.
“The most important thing I learned with both the kids I help and the coworkers I work with, is that you don’t always know what’s going on in their personal lives or at home,” Taylor said. “You need to make sure to give them grace when you can and help if they let you.”
She learned quickly that here, in St. David’s culture, if you allow others to support you, they will, ten-fold.
“Looking back at that time now, one thing I’d tell my younger self is that there would be some challenges in grad school, but I shouldn’t let that defeat me or cause fear,” Taylor said. “I’d like her to know that she would find her way to St. David’s, and she would feel so supported. People she’d work with would become some of her closest friends and she would always be laughing with her team.”
During her time here she experienced:

- Feeling supported to show up for her job each and every day
- A great sense of St. David’s team members caring about her as a whole person.
That focus on our whole-person approach that we take with our staff trickles down to the whole-child approach that we hold close to the core of everything we do here at St. David’s.
“The relationship-based approach at St. David’s really allows everyone involved with our clients and their families to collaborate in order to create a better outcome for everyone we serve,” Taylor said.
Taylor continues to be excited about working with kids in speech, grow her knowledge about trauma-informed care and continuing to find the joy in the small moments.
