Pelvic Floor Therapy

Partnering with children and families to build healthy toileting habits and the skills needed for greater independence.

Our pelvic floor-certified occupational therapists work with children, families, and other healthcare providers when needed to help address challenges with toileting. We support children who experience bedwetting, daytime accidents, constipation, discomfort when using the bathroom, toilet training difficulties, avoidance of public restrooms, and other bowel or bladder concerns.

Caregivers are an important part of the process and participate in sessions to learn strategies that can be used at home. Because toileting can be a sensitive topic, a caregiver is required to attend all therapy sessions. Signed consent is also required before treatment begins.

Our pelvic floor-certified occupational therapists work collaboratively with children, caregivers, and, when appropriate, other healthcare providers to address the factors that may impact toileting success. We support children experiencing nighttime bedwetting, daytime accidents, constipation, toileting discomfort, toilet training challenges, avoidance of public restrooms, and other bowel and bladder concerns.

Using a play-based, family-centered approach, we help children develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for successful toileting. Caregivers actively participate in therapy sessions, learning strategies alongside their child to support progress and carry over skills at home and in the community.

Our therapists have specialized expertise in sensory processing, interoception (body awareness), posture, breathing, and pelvic floor function. This comprehensive perspective allows us to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's unique strengths, needs, and goals.

Because pelvic floor therapy involves sensitive and personal topics, a caregiver is required to attend all therapy sessions. Caregiver participation helps support learning, reinforce strategies across environments, and promote long-term success. Signed consent is required before treatment begins.
