Supporting Children Where They Learn and Grow
Our community-based therapy services are designed to help preschool and elementary-aged children build the social, emotional, and behavioral skills they need to thrive. Whether a child is struggling with big feelings, peer relationships, or transitions, our team meets them where they are—at school, in child care, or at home.
We partner closely with parents, caregivers, and educators to create a circle of support around each child. Services may include:
- Observing children in their classroom environment
- Collaborating with teachers and school staff
- Providing individual play therapy and therapeutic playgroups
- Sharing child development and parenting strategies
- Connecting families to helpful community resources
Our therapists are currently embedded in 14 schools and early childhood centers across the Hopkins and Osseo school districts—bringing care and connection directly into the spaces where children spend their days.

Frequently Asked Questions
We work directly with children who are eligible for school-based mental health services. But our support doesn’t stop there—we see the whole school community as part of our care network. That means we also partner with families, teachers, and school staff to support children’s emotional well-being and help schools respond to challenging behaviors with compassion and understanding.
We currently provide services in the Osseo and Hopkins school districts.
Osseo Schools:
Arbor View Early Childhood, Birch Grove Elementary, Elm Creek Elementary, Fair Oaks Elementary, Garden City Elementary, Oak View Elementary, Parkbrook Elementary, Rice Lake Elementary, Weaver Lake Elementary, Willow Lane Early Childhood, Woodland Elementary, and Zanewood Elementary.
Hopkins Schools:
Alice Smith Elementary, Eisenhower Elementary, Gatewood Elementary, Glen Lake Elementary, L.H. Tanglen Elementary, and Meadowbrook Elementary.
We work closely with school social workers and counselors to determine eligibility. Typically, we serve children who face barriers to accessing mental health care outside of school—such as transportation challenges or a caregiver’s work schedule.
Some signs include emotional outbursts, difficulty focusing, restlessness, negative self-talk, avoidance, persistent fears or worries, impulsivity, changes in sleep or eating habits, frequent physical complaints (like headaches or stomachaches), or struggles with relationships at home or school.
If you’re noticing any of these, we’re here to help.
Our school-based therapists offer:
- Individual and family therapy
- Parent education and child development guidance
- Mental health skills training
- Diagnostic assessments
- Collaboration with school staff and outside providers
We support children with a wide range of mental health needs, including complex trauma, anxiety, PTSD, depression, autism, and ADHD.
Talk to your school’s social worker or counselor. They can help you get on the waitlist or connect you directly with the on-site St. David’s therapist for more information.
No—we’re a year-round program. During school breaks, we continue meeting with children through telehealth, home visits, or in-person sessions at school, depending on what works best for your family.
Our therapists are employed by St. David’s, and are proud to partner with Osseo and Hopkins schools. That means we bring a unique perspective and set of resources while working closely with school teams to support your child.
